Are there any registration fees involved in joining JAV ?

In regulation with the California State Labor Code, a legitimate talent agency should not collect a registration fee from the artist.  Instead, a commission is collected for services rendered.  (Not to exceed a maximum rate shown on the Fee Schedule.)

Please be aware of talent agencies that charge up-front costs for their services they claim are mandatory for joining their agency.  This is not standard practice.  If you further questions regarding allowable charges, you may contact the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.

Is it necessary to spend money on professional pictures prior to joining a talent agency?

Before an evaluation there is not need to spend money.  Once there is a mutual agreement to join our agency, we will suggest you invest in a professional headshot.  A black and white professional headshot is the most effective and economical method.  A headshot is an important tool in the industry.

Do I need a work permit?

ALL MINORS should apply for an entertainment work permit immediately.  It is the responsibility of the parent to apply for a work permit and renew it every six months.  You must send a copy of the work permit to the agency.  The State Labor Board will NOT allow minor under the age of 18 to work without a work permit.  Talent must have a work permit on the set for all commercial and film work.  There will always be studio teachers on the set, and they will NOT accept any excuses.
